The Special K protein bars have received quite a few great reviews on their taste.  They are a healthier option and are cost roughly around the same price as a candy bar.  However, when compared to other protein bars the Special K bars really do not compete well. One of the biggest issues with the Special K bars is that they really do not contain a whole lot of protein.  At 4 grams of protein per bar you really have to still substitute an additional protein source if you want to use these as a healthy snack.  Now the calorie count is low compared to some of the other brands but the sugar count at 11 grams is higher.  For example, if you compare the Special K protein bar with the Lean Body Gold bars the Lean Body brand comes with 30 grams of protein with only 7 grams of sugar.  The Special K bar is only 4 grams of protein with 11 grams of sugar.  Although the Lean Body bar does have a higher overall calorie count, at 300 grams, it still is the much more sensitive option for a healthier snack.

Overall the Special K protein bars are a winner on taste and they are a better alternative to a traditional candy bar.  However, there are much better options out there those of you are looking for a more complete protein snack.
